Terms of use
Effective October 4, 2026
1. These terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Jacob Lammers, who runs PigeonText ("we", "us"), about using PigeonText: the website, the web app, the Android app and the PigeonText Sender shortcut for iPhone. You agree to them when you apply for access. Ourprivacy policy explains how we handle your data.
PigeonText is an independent project. It isn't run or endorsed by any employer, church or ministry that you or other users belong to.
2. The beta
PigeonText is in an early beta. Features will change, things may break, and we may pause or end the beta. The beta is free. If we start charging, we'll tell you at least 30 days before, and you'll never be charged unless you choose a paid plan.
3. Your account
- You must be at least 18 and give accurate information when you apply.
- We decide who gets access, and approval can be withdrawn.
- One account is for one person. Keep your sign-in secure, and tell us if you think someone else has used it.
4. How sending works
- Nothing is sent unless you approved that exact text. You're responsible for what you approve.
- Texts are sent by your own phone (the Android app, or the PigeonText Sender shortcut on an iPhone), from your number, through your mobile carrier and on your plan. Any charges from your carrier are yours. Some phone plans limit automated or high-volume texting; check that yours allows the way you plan to use PigeonText.
- PigeonText spaces texts at least two minutes apart and limits how many it sends each day. We set these limits, may change them, and you can't turn them off.
- Your phone has to be on, connected and running a supported version of the app (on an iPhone, the shortcut and its check-in automations). We can't guarantee that every text will be sent or delivered, or arrive at a particular time. When a text's outcome is unclear, PigeonText marks it for you to check rather than sending it again.
- Carriers sometimes filter texts or restrict numbers that look like spam. We can't control that and aren't responsible for what your carrier does with your number.
5. Texting people the right way
You're the sender of every text, legally and in every other way. That means:
- Only text people you have a real relationship with or who have agreed to hear from you.
- When someone asks you to stop, mark them "Don't text" right away. PigeonText doesn't do this for you.
- Follow the laws that apply to your texts, such as the U.S. Telephone Consumer Protection Act and state texting and privacy laws, and your carrier's rules. Sales and marketing texts often need written permission from each person first, and some laws limit texting late at night or early in the morning in the recipient's time zone.
- Don't use PigeonText for spam, purchased or shared contact lists, harassment, threats, scams, misleading messages, pretending to be someone else, or anything illegal.
6. Using the service fairly
Don't try to get around the sending limits or approval steps, access other people's accounts or data, overload or probe our systems, or copy or resell the service. Install the Android app only from pigeontext.app, and the iPhone shortcut only from the link in PigeonText.
7. Your content
Your contacts and messages stay yours. You let us store, process and use them only as needed to run PigeonText for you, as described in the privacy policy. You confirm you have the right to upload the contacts you add.
8. Feedback and testimonials
We'd love your ideas and feedback. You let us use them to improve PigeonText without owing you anything for them. We'll only quote you, or use your name, in anything public (like our website) if you give us permission first.
9. Ending your use
You can stop using PigeonText at any time and ask us to delete your account by emailingsupport@pigeontext.app. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts other people at risk, or that we're required to close, and where we reasonably can, we'll tell you why first. Sections 7, 8 and 10 to 14 still apply after your account is closed.
10. No warranties
PigeonText is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose, to the extent the law allows.
11. Limits on our liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost profits or data, or for texts you approved, texts that weren't sent or delivered, or your carrier's charges or actions. Our total liability for any claim about PigeonText is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50.
12. Claims about your texts
If someone makes a claim against us because of texts you sent, contacts you uploaded, or your breaking these terms, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it, including legal fees.
13. Changes to these terms
We'll update the date at the top when these terms change and tell you about important changes by email or in the app before they take effect. If you keep using PigeonText after that, the new terms apply.
14. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, USA. If we have a disagreement, please email us first so we can try to fix it. If we can't, disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Michigan, except that either of us may use small claims court.
